With its research capacity in the Medical and Health Science Center it is the second largest research base in the country in life sciences integrating Research Center for Molecular Medicine that is recognized as a Center of Excellence by the EU.

Fésüs, László, MD, PhD, is full Professor, Head of Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Member of Hungarian Academy of Science, Rector of University of Debrecen (UD), Coordinator of the Hungarian Genomic Research for Human Health Consortium, Coordinator of ESF program for protein cross-linking, Coordinator of European COST action on Apoptosis, Founder and Former President of the European Cell Death Organization

László Fésüs is the leader of the apoptosis research group that developed the state of the art technology and know-how for the running of the assays in the apopto-phagocytic system which will be used in the workpackage of ?Clinical interpretation and biological validation?. This activity will contain array analysis specially focusing on different biological pathways, such as apoptosis, alternative cell death pathways (i.e. autophagy), phagocytosis, cell-cell cannibalism, etc. that all might contribute to tumorigenicity.
